A father is twice as old as his son, 20 years of age, the age of the father was 12 times the age of the son. The present age of the father (in years) is?

\huge\underline\mathbb{\red S\pink{O}\purple{LU} \blue{T} \orange{IO}\green{N :}}

Let,

  • Father's age = 2x
  • Son's age = x

◼ 20 years ago... their ages were :

↪ (x - 20)

↪ 2x - 20

From the given question,

\tt\:⟹ 2x - 20  =  12(x - 20)

\tt\:⟹ 2x - 20  = 12x - 240

\tt\:⟹ 2x - 12x = - 240 + 20

\tt\:⟹ - 10x = - 220

\tt\:⟹ x = \frac{-220}{-10}

\tt\:⟹ x = 22

 \boxed{∴ Hence, \: son's  \:  \: age = 22}

\tt\:⟹ Father's \:  age = 2x

  • Substitute the value of x.

\tt\:⟹ 2(22)

\tt\:⟹ 44
