Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by an object due to its motion. the kinetic motion of an object increases with its speed. It is denoted as Ek .
Potential energy is the energy possessed by a body due to its configuration of position. It is denoted as Ep

The ability to do work is called energy

Kinetic Energy ~ Kinetic energy is moving energy. Any movement would be Kinetic Energy so if you are pulling your hair then that is Kinetic Energy, If you clap then that is kinetic energy. Any movement would be Kinetic Energy

Potential Energy ~ Potential Energy is stored energy, You have kept your pen in a place and it isn't moving so it has Potential Energy, Plus there can be ENERGY CONVERSION too as if you then pick up that same old pen then that would be kinetic energy so when you move something that has Kinetic energy and when you don't move it it'll have Potential energy. So that would be ENERGY CONVERSION
Examples : Kinetic Energy ~ Water, Visible light, Batteries in use and more
                  Potential Energy ~
A raised weight, A child at the top of a slide and more
