Let us take that the current age of Kiran is x years and that of Rakesh is y years

By the given condition,

x = y + 24 ...(i)

x - 10 = 5 (y - 10)

or, x - 10 = 5y - 50

or, x = 5y - 40 ...(ii)

Equating (i) and (ii), we get

y + 24 = 5y - 40

or, 5y - y = 24 + 40

or, 4y = 64

or, y = 16

Therefore, the current age of Rakesh is 16 years and that of Kiran is (16 + 24) years, i.e., 40 years
