let the age of rakesh be y , therefore kieran's will be (y+24)

rakesh (y-10) and kieran (y+24-10) which can also be represented as (y+14)

Kiran's age was five times the age of Rakesh.

therefore

5(y-10)= y+ 14

5y-50=y+14 then collecting like terms together

5y-y=14+50

4y=64 divide both sides by 4 to get the value of y

4y/4=64/4

y=16

therefore their ages,

rakesh is y= 16 years

kieran is y+24= 16+ 24

Kieran's age = 40 years
