Kiran obtained 12 marks more than that of ashok. if the ratio of their marks is 3:4 find the sum of their marks

Let Ashok's marks be x, then Kiran's marks will be 12+x.
Therefore we equate the two ratios to solve for x.
3/4=x/12+x
then we have,
36+3x=4x
x=36
Hence the sum of their marks is
36+12+36=84
