Kofi Atta Annan was a Ghanaian diplomat who served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, from January 1997 to December 2006. Annan and the UN were the co-recipients of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize.

Kofi Annan is the former UN secretary-general and a Ghanaian civil servant, has passed away on August 18, 2018 in Switzerland.
He served two terms as UN chief from the year 1997 to 2006. Mr Annan was the foremost black African to become UN secretary-general.
He later served as the UN special envoy for Syria, primary efforts to find a calm solution to the conflict.
