Given

lenght = 15 + 2x

width = x

area = 320m²

Area of rectangle = length × width

  • (15 + 2x) × x = 320
  • 15x + 2x²= 320

\red{\boxed{2x²\:+ \:15x \:- \:320 \:= \:0\:}}

is the required equation.

Now solving for "x" in the equation.

  • 2x²+ 15x - 320 = 0

Discriminant

D= -4ac

D = 225 +2560

D = 2785

= distinct roots

using quadratic formula:-

attachment

x =  \frac{ - 15 +  -  \sqrt{2560} }{4}

Answer:

Given

lenght = 15 + 2x

width = x

area = 320m²

Area of rectangle = length × width

(15 + 2x) × x = 320

15x + 2x²= 320

\red{\boxed{2x²\:+ \:15x \:- \:320 \:= \:0\:}}2x²+15x−320=0

is the required equation.

Now solving for "x" in the equation.

2x²+ 15x - 320 = 0

Discriminant

D= b²-4ac

D = 225 +2560

D = 2785

= distinct roots
