1. The radius of the nucleus  is: R = 1.25 × 10⁻¹³

Now, we have assumed here that The nucleus is a sphere, so, the volume of the sphere is: \frac{4}{3}πr³

Now, radius of the atom formula = radius of nucleus x cube root of mass number of the atom

= 1.25 × 10⁻¹³ x  = 1.25 x 10⁻¹³ x 4 = 5 x 10⁻¹³

now, radius of atom = 1 Å = 10⁻¹⁰ m = 10⁻⁸ cm (multiply by 100, since all the values are given in cm)

Volume occupied by the nucleus in the atom is:

\frac{Volume_n_u_c_l_e_u_s}{Volume_a_t_o_m} = \frac{(5x10^-^1^3)^3}{(10^-^8)^3} (\frac{4}{3}π get cancelled both in the numerator and denominator)

= \frac{125x10^-^3^9}{10^-^2^4} = 125 x 10⁻¹⁵ cm = 1.25 x 10⁻¹³ cm

2. The value of n will be only natural numbers (not even 0)

Now, the formula of the excited state of the hydrogen atom is: \frac{-13.6eV}{n^2}

If n=1, then, \frac{-13.6eV}{1^2} = -13.6eV

if n=2, then, \frac{-13.6eV}{2^2} = \frac{-13.6eV}{4} = -3.4eV

so, the possible value is only option (a) -3.4 eV
