Answer:

No. of shares of stock a = 400

Gain from share a. = Rs . 3 / share.

Total gain from share a = Rs. ( 400 × 3 )

= Rs . 1,200.

Similarly ,

No. of shares of stock b = 500

Loses from share b. = Rs. 2 / share.

Total loss from share b. = Rs. ( 500 × 2 )

= Rs. 1,000.

Net gain -:

= Rs. ( 1,200 - 1,000 )

= Rs. 200
