"Kothari Commission
A Commission was appointed in 1964 under the presidency of Dr D. Kothari. Dr. J. Naik has made valuable contributions to the Commission's work.
It is recommended the 10+ 2 + 3 model for high school and university education.
The Commission also proposed a uniform national education system, the inclusion of mother tongue, Hindi and English in education, as well as ongoing education, adult education, correspondence education and open universities in order to reduce education to the lowest levels of society.
In 1972, the Maharashtra government adopted the 10 + 2 + 3 model and carried out the first study of the Std X Board in 1975.
