Krishna had a viral infection. She had cold and cough. Dr. Gupta gave her antibiotic. She
could not get relief. She went to Dr. Gulati who gave her advice to have saline gargles and
to inhale steam. She felt relief

ii) Because antibiotics only fight bacteria, and not viruses, they're usually ineffective against colds. Sometimes a cold may lead to a bacterial infection, though. In that case, antibiotics would have a benefit if they were able to prevent that kind of infection.

iii) Gargling with salt water also helps to remove the mucus build-up in your respiratory tract and nasal cavity. The concoction reduces the inflammation and relieves the pain in the throat. Apart from that, it flushes out the bacteria and virus, which if left unattended can lead to congestion.
