Given:-

  • CDs bought by Kritin = 3
  • CDs recieved by Kritin as a gift = 5

Find:-

  • Fraction of CDs she bought
  • Fraction of CDs she received as a gift

Solution:-

To find the total number of CDs she bought and she received as a gift.

First, find the total number of CDs.

Total number of CDs = CDs she bought + CDs she received as a gift

According to question, Kritin brought 3 CDs and received 5 CDs as a gift.

\implies\:3\:+\:5

\implies \:8

So,

Total number of CDs = 8

Now,

\sf{Fraction\: of \:CDs \:she \:bought\: =\:\frac{CDs\:bought}{Total\:number \:of\:CDs}}

\implies \:\dfrac{3}{8}

Similarly,

\sf{Fraction\: of\: CDs\: she \:received\: as \:a\: gift\: = \:\frac{CDs\:recieved}{Total\:number \:of\:CDs}}

\implies \:\dfrac{5}{8}

•°• Fraction of CDs she bought is 3/8 and fraction of CDs she received as a gift is 5/8

Total no. of CDs = CDs she bought+ CDs she received as gift

According to Question :-

Kritin bought 3 CDs and received 5 CDs as a gift .

\large\implies{\sf 8 }

Total number of CDs = 8

Now ,

Fraction of CDs she bought =\sf{\frac{CDs\: Bought}{Total\:no.\:of\:CDs}}

\large\implies{\sf  \frac{3}{8}}

Similarly ,

Fraction of CDs she received as gift =\sf{\frac{CDs\:received}{Total\:no.\:of\:CDs}}

\large\implies{\sf \frac{5}{8}}

Therefore,

Fraction of CDs she bought is \sf{\frac{3}{8}}

And

Fraction of CDs she received as a gift is \sf{\frac{5}{8}}
