Born on 29th December 1904, Kuvempu was the pen name adopted by an Indian novelist, poet and playwright, Kuppalli Venkatappa Puttappa.
He was conferred the Padma Bhushan by the government of India in the year 1958.
He was also honoured with the Padma Vibushan award in the year 1988. He left the world on 11th November 1994.
