We inhale in many gases along with oxygen into the lungs. About 90% oxygen is remained in the lungs when we exhale ( we give out the remaining 10% into the atmosphere). Similarly about 10% inhaled carbon dioxide remains in the lungs and the rest 90% CO2 is given out.
