List out some multiples of both numbers:
8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, …
10, 20, 30, 40,…
We can see 40 is the least common multiple of the two numbers.
Method 2:
Do a prime factorization on both numbers:
8=238=23
10=2×510=2×5
If you want the LCM, you have to take the largest power of each prime factor:
LCM=23×5=40
