Given:-

  • L. C. M= twice of greater
  • smaller number - H. C. F = 4

Find:-

smaller number =?

Solution:-

Let greater number be = a

And,

smaller number be = b

A/q,

(I) L. C. M = 2a

(ii)b - H. C. F = 4

H. C. F = b-4

Now apply the formula,

H. C. F × L. C. M = smaller number × greater number

=> (b - 4)× 2a = b × a

=> (b -4) × 2 = b

=> 2b - 8 = b

=> 2b- b = 8

=> b = 8

Hence,

the smaller number = b = 8

Answer:

GIVEN:

LCM OF THE GIVEN TWO NUMBER 8S DOUBLE THE GREATER NUMBER AND DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SMALLERER NUMBER AND HCF IS 4.

TO FIND:

SMALLER NUMBER

SOLUTION:

LET THE TWO NUMBERS BE X AND Y.

GREATER NO.=X

SMALLER NUMBER =Y.

ATQ,

LCM=2X

HCF=Y-4

NOW ACCORDING TO THE FORMULA:

LCM ×HCF =SMALLER NUMBER ×GREATER NUMBER

=>2X×Y-4= Y×X

=>Y-4=Y/2

=>2(Y-4)=Y

=>2Y-8=Y

=>Y=8.

HENCE THE SMALLER NUMBER IS 8.
