In case (a) Length of rectangular region is 100cm and breadth is 144cm

Length of tile is 12cm and breadth is 5 cm

Here Number of tiles needed= Area of region/Area of tile

Area of tile = L×B
= 12cm × 5cm
= 60cm square

Area of region = L×B
= 144cm × 100cm
= 14400cm square

Number of tiles = 14400cm square/60cm square

=240 tiles

Similarily,In case (b)
Number of tiles = 70cm ×36 cm / 60cm square
= 2520cm square /60 cm square
= 42 tiles
