It was MC Mary Kom of India who won the gold medal in women’s boxing in the London Olympics.

She took part in the flyweight category and won the Olympic gold.

Mary Kom is the first Indian woman to win the Olympic gold in boxing for the country.

She is from the north-eastern states of Manipur and won five consecutive world boxing championship.
