QUESTION

L walks 3 km East and turns south and walk 4 km. again she twins west and walks 6 km. How far is she from

the starting points .

✴ANSWER✴

In Triangle ABE :-

According To Pythagoras theorem

(AE ) ² = (AB )² + (BE)²

Where,

  • AB = 3km

  • BE = 4Km.

=> AE ² = ( 3² + 4²)

=> AE² = (9+16)

=>AE² = (25 )

=>AE = ±(25)

=> AE = ±5

But, we know,

Distance always be positive ,

So,

  • AE = -5 is neglected .

Then,

  • AE = 5 Km.

Thus:-

  • Distance between starting and end point = 5 km.

\huge{\overline{\underline{\bf{ANSWER}}}}

here A/c

suppose the man walk like this;

3km

A_______|B

| | 4km

| |

D _____E______. C

3 km. 3km

|-----------------------|

6 km

So,

Distance from

A to D is

Cont,

Draw AE llel to BC and equal to BC

So,

EC is DC-3km

i.e

6-3

EC = 3 km

So, we have found AE and EC and DE

Now by Pythagoras theorem

AE^2 +DE^2=AD^2

4^2+3^2=AD^2

16+9=AD^2

25=AD^2

AD=√25

AD=5 km

So,

Distance from starting point is 5km
