Given : a + b + c + d + e = 5024 ------- (1)
Given : a + b = b + c = c + d = d + e = 2012 ------ (2)
Substitute (2) in (1), we get
= > 2012 + c + d + e = 5024
= > c + d + e = 5024 - 2012
= > c + d + e = 3012 ------- (3)

Equation (3) can be written as,
= > 2012 + e = 3012
= > e = 3012 - 2012 = 1000 ------ (4)
Now,
= > a + b + c + d + e = 5024
= > a + 2012 + 2012 = 5024

Substitute (4), (5) in (1), we get
= > 1000 + 2012 + d + 1000 = 5024
= > d + 4012 = 5024
= > d = 5024 - 4012
= > d = 1012.
Therefore, the value of d - a:
= > 1012 - 1000
= > 12.
