Given:

La velocidad de un hombre con la corriente es de 15 km / h y la velocidad de la corriente es de 2,5 km / h. La velocidad del hombre contra la corriente es de

A man's speed with the current is 15 km/hr and the speed of the current is 2.5 km/hr. The man's speed against the current is?

To find:

The man's speed against the current

Solution:

Let's say,

"x" km/hr → represents the speed of the man

"y" km/hr → represents the speed of the current = 2.5 km/hr

The speed of the man with the current = 15 km/hr

i.e., Speed of the man downstream = 15 km/hr

\implies x + y = 15

on substituting the value of y = 2.5 km/hr

\implies x + 2.5 = 15

\implies x  = 15 - 2.5

\implies \bold{x  = 12.5\:km/hr}

Now,

The speed of the man against the current is,

= Speed of the man upstream

= x - y

= 12.5\: km/hr - 2.5\:km/hr

= \bold{10 \:km/hr}

Thus, the man's speed against the current is → 10 km/hr.
