Explanation:

Sedimentation is defined as the separation process in which solids are separated from the liquid. All the solids settle down at the bottom of a beaker and on top, a clear layer of liquid is obtained. Decantation is defined as the separation process in which two immiscible liquids are separated.

Answer:

Sedimentation:

The process of particles settling to the bottom of a body of water.

  • if we take water and mud
  • then put mud in glass
  • fill it with water
  • after some time the mud will settle down this is called sedimentation and we will keep the water in other container.

Decantation:

The process for separation of mixture of immicible liquids or of a liquid and a solid mixture such as suspension.

  • Take oil and water
  • We will fill water in a glass
  • then a glass of oil on water
  • then the oil will float because it is light then water.
  • then we will separate them this is called decantation.
