a) Metacentric chromosome.
- It appears as V - shape
- both arms of chromatids are at equal distance from centromere.
- centromere is centrally located.
b) Submetacentric chromosome
- It appears as L- shape.
- centromere is slightly shifted from centre
- results in one arm as slightly long and other slightly short.
c) Telocentric chromosome
- centromere is located at one end
- which results in terminal centromere
d) Acrocentric chromosome
- centromere is far placed from centre.
- results in one very long arm and other very short arm.
★Note:
- metacentric, submetacentric, telocentric shapes are observed during the chromosome movement at anaphase stage.
