Our bodies require certain definite amounts of nutrients for our growth, sustainance,and all other metabolic activities...when we don't take sufficient amounts of the nutrients,then our bodies develop deficiency diseases due to absence of a particular vitamin or mineral...
We have diseases like rickets, anaemia,scurvy etc. caused by the insufficiency of vitamins such as Vitamin C ,D,A, etc..
Even plants require nutrients such as phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium etc From the soil for performing the various physiological processes which includes respiration, growth, reproduction and many more...
