Rainfall plays a vital role in agriculture and is crucial for the development of crops, especially in Indian Agriculture. Most of the Indian agriculture is based on rainfall or monsoon for 80% of its water supply.
There are various areas, which are completely or mostly dependant on monsoon or rainfall for their crop production. And lesser rainfall in these regions causes a lot of problem in these areas.
Less rainfall in these regions causes a shortage of crop production and hence a shortage of food grains.
The widespread hunger due to food shortage can lead to deaths.
