D) MUSCLE CELLS

BECAUSE WHENEVER YOU DO STRENOUS EXERCISE THE AMOUNT OF OXYGEN IN YOUR MUSCLE GETS DEPLETED. AND ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION STARTS TAKING PLACE DUE TO WHICH LACTIC ACID IS FORMED

Lactic acid formation takes place in (d) Muscle cells

During anaerobic respiration when there is inadequate oxygen supply to the muscles  then lactic acid formation takes place.During intense exercise there is lack of oxygen and this hinders the process of aerobic respiration so a substrate called lactate is made .This lactic acid or lactate is not utilized by the body as a substrate as fast it is formed and hence its accumulation takes place that leads to muscle ache, rapid breathing ,etc
