 ladder 6m long is placed so as to reach a window 4.8 m high. On turning the ladder over to the other side of the street, it reaches a point 1.4 m high. What is the breadth of the street?​

In the triangle by Pythagoras theorem

(wall length)square + (length between the wall and the foot of ladder) square =(length of ladder) square

4.8 square ​+ length between the wall and the foot of the wall square = 6 square

23.04+length between wall and ladder square = 36

Length square = 36 - 23.04

Length = under root 12.96

Length = 3.6m
