# Fresh water lakes
1. Most of the fresh water are in the Himalayan region.
2. They are of glacial origin.
3. The Wular lake in jammu and Kashmir is the largest fresh water lake in India.
4. Other fresh water lakes are the Dal lake, Bhimtal, Loktak and Barapani.
#Man made lakes
The damming of the river for the generation of electricity led to the formation of the man made lakes.
E. G. Guru gobind Sagar lake.
#Salt water lakes
1. Lagoons or salt water lakes are found in the areas.
E. G. Chilika Lake, Pulicat Lake.
2. Sometimes salt water lakes are formed with inland drainage .
E. G. Sambhar Lake in Rajasthan its water is used for producing salt.
