Let Lakshmi have 2x Rs 100 notes, 3x Rs 50 notes and 5x Rs 10 notes.

Amount in Rs 100 notes

 = 100 \times 2x = 200x

Amount in Rs 50 notes

 = 3x \times 50 = 150x

Amount in Rs 10 notes

 = 5x \times 10 = 50x

Therefore,

200x + 150x + 50x = 400000

400x = 400000

x =  \frac{400000}{400}

x = 4000

Therefore,

Number of Rs 100 notes

 = 2 \times 4000 = 8000

Nunber of Rs 50 notes

 = 3 \times 4000 = 12000

Number of Rs 10 notes

 = 5 \times 4000 = 20000

Given:

  • Currency notes of denomination = Rs. 100, Rs. 50 and Rs. 10
  • Ratio of these notes = 2:3:5
  • Total cash with Lakshmi = Rs. 400000

To Find:

How many notes of each denomination dose she have?

Solution:

Let the numbers of notes of Rs. 100, Rs. 50 and Rs. 10 be 2x, 3x and 5x respectively

Now, let's find the values,

Value of Rs. 100 = 2x \times 100 = 200x

Value of Rs. 50 = 3x \times 50 = 150x

Value of Rs. 10 = 5x \times 10 = 50x

According to the question,

200x+150x+50x=400000\\\implies 400x=40000

Now, we have to find the value of x

\implies x=\frac{40000}{400} \\\implies x=1000

Numbers of Rs. 100 notes = 2x=\boxed{2000}

Numbers of Rs. 50 notes = 3x=\boxed{3000}

Numbers of Rs. 10 notes = 5x=\boxed{5000}
