The ratio of the money Lakshmi spent on the clothes to her salary is 1:10

Given :

Lakshmi's salary = Rs 20,000

Amount spent on clothes = Rs 2000

To find :

The ratio of the money spent on clothes to her salary

Solution :

Lakshmi's salary per month = Rs 20,000

The amount from her salary she spends to buy clothes per month

   =  Rs 2000

The remaining amount of salary after spending on clothes

   = Rs 20,000 - Rs 2000 = Rs 18,000

The ratio of the money spent on clothes to her salary

= Money spent to buy clothes / Total salary

  = Rs 2000 / Rs 20,000 = 1 / 10

The ratio of the money Lakshmi spent on clothes to her salary = 1:10
