Lalitha took a parcel from a hotel to celebrate her birthday with her friends. It was billed with Rs. 1,450 including 5% VAT. Lalitha asked for some discount, the hotel owner gave 8% discount on the bill amount. Now find the actual amount that lalitha has to pay to the hotel owner

1st Step , take away the 5% VAT to find the original cost:

105% = 1450

1% = 1450 ÷ 105 = 13.81

100% = 13.81 x 100 = Rs 1381

2nd step: Calculate the discount:

Discount = 8% x 1281 = 110

3rd Step: Find Cost after discount:

1381 - 110 = Rs 1271

4th Step: Calculate the VAT:

VAT = 5% x 1271 = 0.05 x 1271 = 64

5th Step: Add VAT to the cost:

1271 + 64 = Rs 1335

Answer: Lalitha has to pay Rs 1335
