Given :- Lana's family is planning a rectangular garden. They make a scale diagram of the garden using a scale of 1 inch to 0.5 meters. If the length of the scale diagram is 24 inches, and its width is 16 inches, what is the perimeter of the actual garden ?

Solution :-

since,

→ 1 inch = 0.5 m

so,

→ 24 inches = 24 * 0.5 = 12 m. = Length of garden.

and,

→ 16 inches = 16 * 0.5 = 8 m . = Breadth of garden .

Now, we know that,

  • Perimeter of garden = 2(Length + Breadth)

then,

→ Perimeter of garden = 2(12 + 8) = 2 * 20 = 40 m (Ans.)

Hence, the perimeter of the actual garden is 40m.
