LAND DEGRADATION:
The process of disintegration of earth or detoriaration of land is known as Land degradation. The depletion of natural resources also leads to the degradation. This process leads to the extinction of species and reduce the quality of land, air, water etc.
Causes for Land Degradation:
Land Disturbance: The weedy plants assume control over the nature and destroys the local greenery. The invasive species damages the soil. The overgrazing also makes the land hard and results in infertility.
Pollution: The pollution is another major cause for the land degradation. Pollution leads to the decrease in the quality of air, water, land etc. The noise pollution damages the ears and disturb the animals. The over population also leads to the pollution.
Deforestation: Deforestation is the process of cutting down the trees for providing space to construct houses. The trees in the forest are cut down for fuel and agriculture.
Natural factors: The occurance of floods, drought, tsunamis, earthquakes have an immediate and long effect to the human and animal lives.
Industrialization and Over production: The Industrialization led to the development of technology. This resulted in the depletion of natural resources. The effluents, smoke, sound etc produced by these industries led to the land degradation.
There are other factors for the land degradation like soil erosion, over usage of fertilizers etc..
Land degradation is a natural process or a process induced by human beings by which the land got negatively affected and became unable to function effectively within the environment .
- Deforestation
- Overgrazing
- Excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides .
- Desertification
- Soil erosion. etc
We all know that forest helps a lot in maintaining the fertility of soil . They help in providing nutrients to the soil . Due to adversely cutting of trees will definitely result in decreasing the fertility of soil.
When there will be a use population of livestock then then they will definitely over exploit the pasture lands for their own use duedue to this over expectation many of the plants will not be able to survive and this will definitely result in the soil erosion resulting in degradation of land.
No doubt doubt that the fertilizers help in increasingthe quantity of food production which is really a very good thing. But every thing has also some negative effect of it on and this is so that are fertilizers also have a very big negative effect that they create threat to the environmental conditions by resulting soil pollution.
Desertification refers to a natural process in which a fertile land area transformed into arid and dry region and it ultimately destruct the potential of that land.
Causes of desertification are :-
Degradation of vegetation, water erosion, wind erosion etc
Taking away of soil by wind and water from its place to anywhere else is known as soil erosion.
and and it also contributes in decreasing the fertility of soil and results in land degradation.
