In Central Himalayan region, the rainfed agriculture on steep terraces is the predominant form of land use, while only about 15-20% of the total cultivated land is irrigated. Irrigation is practiced only in the valley areas situated >1500m amsl and two crops are taken in one calendar year.

*Only about 15-20% of total cultivated land.
