Land utilisation involves the management and modification of natural environment or wilderness into built environment such as settlements and semi-natural habitats such as arable fields, pastures, and managed woods.
In India, about 51.09% of the land is under cultivation, 21.81% under forest and 3.92% under pasture. Built up areas and uncultivated land occupy about 12.34% (Kundra, 1999). About 5.17% of the total land is uncultivated waste, which can be converted into agricultural land.

And day by day the population is increasing and with the increasing population demands of people also increase , like housing , food , job ,etc. To fulfill these demands the land is getting used vastly. On the land the houses are build , food is also grown at a very huge rate , and to give these population means of survival new job creating industries are also setting up.
