Shivalik ranges are composed of unconsolidated sediments and contain gravel and alluvium so, they are weak in nature. They lie on the boundary of convergence of eurasian and indo-auatralian plateso they are prone to earthquakes and landslides.

  • Shiwalik range is mostly found in lowermost stretches of himalayas. This region mainly lies near the river valleys where soil erodes frequently. The unconsolidated sediments combined with soil erosion are the biggest reason of landslides there.
