lanthanoids and actions are separated and arranged below the periodic table because of their electronic configuration when you look at the periodic table you will find strange entries in the 3b group of elements the 3b group marks the begenning of transition group elements the third row of 3b group contains all elements between element57 lanthanum and element71 lutetium these elements are grouped together and are called lanthenoids similarly the fourth row of3b contains the elements between89 actinium and103 lawrencium these elements are known as actinoids
