The excerpt has been taken from the lesson Gulliver's Travels written by Jonathan Swift.
The people of Laputa also called the Laputians had a great interest in judicial astronomy and many of them were expert astronomers. In the middle of the flying island, there was a 50-yard wide chasm that had many telescopes, quadrants, etc. that were used for astronomical purposes.
They were better astronomers than the Europeans and they would watch the celestial bodies. They also settled the periods of 93 different comets and discovered 2 lesser known stars around Mars.
