They don't need any medium to travel.

Laser beam has very high intensity of light of single color so it can travel long distances in a straight line without spreading and diminishing its intensity

Directionality

Explanation:

  • The laser beam follows a directional path when exposed by the device in material medium.
  • The conventional lights coming from the torch, bulb or any other source may get scattered in different direction but the case is opposite in the case of laser beam.
  • The laser beam emits the electrons in one direction. This imparts the directionality to the laser beam.
  • The width of the laser beam is narrow as compared to conventional lights  this allows the laser beam to move to long distances without spreading and scattering.
