Lasers which came into existence in 1960 are associated with a beam of special lights and not any instrument.

They can be used in various cases such as removing tumors, scars, moles, etc.

Lasers are used in different surgeries such as eye surgery, etc. in which a focussed and fixed amount of light is allowed to pass through a particular tissue to make a small burn or opening for it be operated on but only for a short period of time.

If used in excess, then it might result in burning the tissue and affecting the organ as a whole, therefore, lasers used for surgery are often on for only a very small fraction of a second at a time.
