The large intestine is divided into three main parts: the cecum, the colon, and the rectum. The cecum, also known as the first part of the large intestine, is a pouch-shaped member that connects the colon to the ileum (which is the last part of the small intestine).
The rectum is the final straight portion of the large intestine that terminates in the anus. As mentioned before, this is where the feces are stored before being expelled out of the body.
