Answer:

400

Step-by-step explanation:

Let total pages in book be x

Martha read in last week = 2/5 of book

= 2x/5

Martha read this week = 1 quater you book

= 1x/4

Total pages she had read = 2x/5 + x/4

LCM of 4 and 5 is 20

= (8x + 5x)/20

= 13x/20

Pages left to read by Martha = x - 13x/20

= 20x/20 - 13x/20

= 7x/20

According to ques.

Pages left to read by Martha = 140

Therefore ,

7x/20 = 140

7x = 140×20

x = 140 ×20 ÷7

x = 20×20

x = 400

so,. Total pages in Martha book = x

= 400
