Last year due to unseasonal rain standing crops of the farmers were ruined. They were left starving. The government tried to compensate the farmers by providing them monetary help to buy food and seeds for the next crop. For many this monetary help was insufficient. Add more fact to the aforementioned reality. Make a summary and suggest what more the government and NGOs could have done in this situation

Unseasonal and widespread rain over the weekend has wreaked havoc in the region, extensively damaging standing wheat, mustard and potato crops. According to reports received here, the fields are waterlogged with rainwater in Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah and Fatehpur Sikri.

The district administrations will soon conduct a survey to identify the crop damage and loss suffered by farmers in their respective areas. The report will be sent to the government, which will take a decision on compensating farmers for the losses.

In Agra, around 138 hectare of land is under wheat production while the millet has been sown in approximately 130 hectares. Mustard is being cultivated across 52 hectares of land.
