Latent heat means hidden heat. When any substance changes its state from ‘solid to liquid’ or ‘liquid to gas’ some amount of heat is used in this for change in state but it does not show any rise in temperature during change but after the change of state you will see that temperature is again rising. This is because that heat energy is used by matters to change into another state.
