As per Clausius Clapyeron equation, latent heat of any substance is directly proportional to difference of vapour volume and liquid volume. At critical point, vapour volume is equal to liquid volume so latent heat of any substance at its critical point is zero. On a pressure temperature plot, at conditions to the right of and above critical point (pressure greater than critical pressure and temperature greater than critical temperature), substance can not be differentiated between liquid and vapor implying no energy is required for phase change.
