Answer:

Chick peas and vetch

Explanation:

Lathyrogen

Lathyrogens, found in legumes such as chickpeas and vetch, are amino acid derivatives that act as metabolic antagonists of the brain neurotransmitter glutamic acid. When large amounts of lathyrogens are ingested by humans or animals, they cause paralysis of the lower limbs and can be fatal. Lathyrism occurs only with an inadequate diet containing vetch, sweet pea or grass pea, and is characterized by thinning of the bones and paralysis of the legs.

Lathyrism

Lathyrism is a disease caused by eating certain legumes of the genus Lathyrus. There are three types of lathyrism namely, neurolatyrism, osteolatyrism and angiolatyrism, all of which are incurable and differ in symptoms and body tissues affected.

Neurolatyrism is a type associated with the consumption of legumes of the Lathyrus genus containing the ODAP toxin. Ingestion of ODAP causes motor neuron death. The result is paralysis of the lower limbs and muscle atrophy.

Osteolatrism, a different type of lathyrism, affects connective tissues, not motor neurons. Osteolatrism is caused by ingestion of Lathyrus odoratus seeds (sweet peas) and is often referred to as odorism. It is caused by a different toxin, beta-aminopropionitrile, which affects the assembly of the subunits of collagen, the main structural protein found in connective tissue.

A third type of lathyrism is angiolatyrism, which is similar in mechanism to osteolatyrism and uses the toxin beta-aminopropionitrile. Unlike bone, blood vessels are affected.
