          Lactiferous vessels are found in the cortex(C) of a plant. They are secretory cells that are mostly present in leaves which produce the rubber or the latex. Their secretions are sometimes used in the defense mechanism of the cell.  

          The lactiferous vessels are developed as lactifers from the meristematic tissue. They are divided into articulated lactifers and non-articulated lactifers. They play a very important role in maintaining the turgidity of a cell. It maintains the cellular pressure by the process of osmosis
