Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone.
This statement is indeed very true.
If you are happy with who you are and are willing to appreciate all the wonderful things of the world and also spread happiness to the people around you, you are liked by everyone due to the positive vibes which you give out.
But, if you are being critical about everything and always disregard people and weep over everything instead of being sportive to face life, you won't have any help and you cry and dwell in your miseries alone.
Pity doesn't bring you help. Admiration at your refusal to give in does.
