Given:

Laura wants to know the volume of her gold ring in cubic centimeters.

She gets a rectangular glass with a base 7cm,  by 4.5cm,  and fills the glass 8.8cm  high with water.

Laura drops her gold ring in the glass and measures the new height of the water to be 9.2.

To find:

What is the volume of Laura's ring in cubic centimeters?

Solution:

From given, we have,

A rectangular glass has base 7 cm and width 4.5 cm

The water-filled in glass is 8.8 cm high

The volume of water filled in a rectangular glass =  l × b × h

= 7 × 4.5 × 8.8

= 277.2 cm³

The volume of water filled in a rectangular glass after dropping the gold ring =  l × b × h

= 7 × 4.5 × 9.2

= 289.8 cm³

The volume of Laura's gold ring in cubic centimetres is given by,

= 289.8 cm³ - 277.2 cm³

= 12.6 cm³

Therefore, the  volume of Laura's gold ring in cubic centimetres is 12.6 cm³
