Official Worldwide theoretically accepted statement:-

Law of conservation of momentum states that the momentum of a body before collision and after collision are equal only if no external force acts on it.
Practical statement:-
let us consider two bodies having mass m1 and m2 and they are travelling with initial velocity u1 and u2 and are moving towards each other
so now the relation of momentum before collision is m1u1+ m2u2.
now after the bodies collide with each other their momentum will be conserved and they will start moving in opposite directions with the final velocity v1 and v2.
so now the relation after collision is m1v1+m2v2 .

before collision. after collision.
m1u1+m2u2. = m1v1+ m2v2

Law of conservation of momentum can also be proved correct by Newton's third law of motion which says that '' action has an equal and opposite reaction''.
